Activate Scottsbluff-Gering Summit 

Plan to attend this important discussion to improve the health of Scottsbluff-Gering residents by enabling them to get regular physical activity through walking and biking, or “active transportation.”

The summit will be held at the Guadalupe Center, 1200 E 9th Street in Scottsbluff, and is funded through the Panhandle Public Health District and a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention grant.

Who should come? All are welcome! If you walk or bike, for recreation or for transportation, this event is definitely one you want to attend. If you have an interest in increasing overall health, are looking for new opportunities to get your kids more active, engaged, and more healthy, or even if you have a strong desire to make Scottsbluff - Gering a more healthier and active community, then you should come, lend your wisdom, and help us create our community-driven plan of action.

Agenda

  • 12:30: Registration - Networking
  • 1:00: Welcome and overview, setting the stage, how did we get to today?
     
  • 1:15: Panel-Opportunities in Scottsbluff - Gering—to share relevant successes, benefits, and opportunities for a more walkable and bikeable Scottsbluff - Gering; to help participants begin to see the potential for success. (Panelists TBA)
  • 2:30: Opening the Space-Creating the Needed Initiatives to Increase Walking and biking in Scottsbluff - Gering—to explore those topics and gain consensus on the top 3-4 initiatives needed to increase walking in Scottsbluff - Gering.
    • Discussion is driven by participants around the question: “What topic, best practice, or question, if we addressed it today, would help us most significantly increase walking and biking in Scottsbluff - Gering?”
  • 4:45: System-wide Action Planning—to create a measurable and prioritized action plan for each of our 3-4 initiatives to increase walkability in Scottsbluff - Gering.
  • 6:20: Wrapping up, next steps, and Moving Our Work Forward—to help participants talk about what we did today, to know what is happening next, to move us toward our goals, and to commit to what each of us will do to help us succeed.
  • 6:30: Adjourn and celebrate with some refreshments
