Women and Land Conservation Learning Circle

The Women's Committee of the Augusta County Farm Bureau invites you to join us for three days of engaging discussion and fellowship focused on women landowners and natural resources management on our farms. The “Women and Land” Learning Circle is sponsored by the American Farmland Trust and designed for women landowners like you, who own and make management decisions on Virginia forest or farm land.

You are receiving this invitation because a community member or conservation professional thought you would be interested in the program, and that your perspective would add value to the discussion.

Women and Land Learning Circle:

Session 1: Thurs, Feb 9 -  "Conservation Planning: You and Your Land"

  • Introducing Ourselves
  • Overview of Conservation

Session 2:  Thurs, March 9 – "Farming on the Ground: Who Can Help?"

  • Conservation Programs and Practices

Session 3: Thur, April 6 – "Future of My Farm: Planning a Legacy"

  • Succession Planning
  • Leasing

All meetings will be held at the Augusta County Farm Bureau Office in Verona from 10:00am - 2:00pm. Coffee and registration start at 9:30am. Cost for entire program is $15.00 and includes lunches.

This program will be different from any workshop you’ve attended in the past. “Women and Land” dispenses with lectures and presentations and instead focuses on sharing knowledge and experience. You’ll join a group of 15+ women landowners and conservation/ extension staff from your county. You’ll leave with the information, confidence and contacts to make informed decisions for your land and to obtain technical and financial assistance to protect/improve your natural resources.

Local conservation partners like the USDA Natural Resource Conservation Service, Headwaters Soil and Water Conservation District, and Virginia Tech Cooperative Extension will also be part of this unique program. Please consider joining us for this very important and enjoyable conservation discussion and networking opportunity.

Attendance at ALL three sessions is strongly encouraged since you will be an active participant in deciding what will be discussed at each meeting and will develop mutually beneficial relationships with other outstanding women and natural resource organizations.
