Guest Artist, Rod Haaland

Rod has been making pottery since the 1970's.  He is also degreed ceramic engineer who leads a research team for a ceramic manufacturing plant in Morristown, TN.  Rod creates his own glazes, many from local materials.  His focus is on wheel-thrown form, sometimes altered and combined with a foundation in utilitarian ware.  Rod has begun working in collaboration with his daughter, Katy Greene, to create a new line of illustrated pottery called, "Green Hill Pottery".  Other collaborations are in the works with Telos Coffee Roasters (Johnson City's own specialty coffee roaster owned and operated by Cari and Jonathan Muse - Rod's other daughter and son-in-law) and with Muse Textiles (handprinted textiles created by Cari).  Beyond these ventures, the brightest lights in Rod's world are his three grandkids who are all future creatives.

*MOMAC Summer Art Camp is designed to allow campers to experiment with an array of artistic methods and mediums.  Each week of camp is packed with fun right-brain activities and focuses on a different art medium.  Each week also features a professional guest artist who will share his or her art expertise!  Snacks and water will be provided by MOMAC Studio.
