Kids in this camp will learn how to mix and apply a variety paints and other media like ink, crayon, chalk pastel, and oil pastel as well as experiment with a variety of methods like pouring, splattering, and drizzling. They will also learn how to transfer images, build up surfaces, add layers, and take away layers. Topping off the camp, is a number of games that will allow them to experiment with the properties of paint and discover mystery colors!
*All camps are recommended for ages 7-13 and are held from 9:00am to 4:00pm daily. Discounts are available to full-day registrants with friends or siblings! Join us as local favorite, Barbara Jernigan shares a snippet of her years of experience in watercolor painting!
Barbara Brown Jernigan studied art at Georgia Southern College and with a number of nationally famous watercolorists including John Salminen and Laurin McCracken. She has won many awards and has exhibited in juried shows on the local, state, and national level. From 2012 to 2016, Barbara served as president of the Tennessee Watercolor Society and continues to remain active in it as well as the Watauga Valley Art League, Kingsport Art Guild, and the Florida, Southern and American Watercolor Societies. Barbara enjoys teaching and sharing her knowledge of watercolor, benevolently.
