The State House - The Grand Staircase

On Massachusetts Biomedical Research Day we recognize the accomplishments and contributions of biomedical research here in Massachusetts and around the world.
Each day thousands of men and women across the Commonwealth dedicate themselves to greater and greater understanding of living systems and to improving the life and health of all living things. The research performed here touches hundreds of millions of lives around the globe every day, and contributes to the well-being of people, animals and the environment.
October 21st was named Massachusetts Biomedical Research Day by the Legislature in 2006 and is celebrated annually on Alfred Nobel's birthday. Each year MSMR selects and recognizes up to four individuals who have made a significant impact on biomedical research in Massachusetts ... a researcher, an educator, a business leader and a legislator. We honor them at a ceremony at the State House in Boston.
This year’s special Honorees are:
Senator John Hart, 1st Suffolk District
Mr. Henri Termeer, Genzyme Corporation
Dr. Saul Tzipori, Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine, Tufts University
Dr. Angie Warner, Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine, Tufts University
We also hope that every organization that performs or depends upon biomedical research will take a part of the day to honor those whose commitment means so much to everyone. And we trust that some day soon, each New England state will adopt October 21 as Biomedical Research Day to acknowledge the significance and contribution of research across the region.
Our event will be held at the Grand Staircase of the Massachusetts State House. Please join us there.
We will recognize our four honorees and will enjoy an informal buffet luncheon.
