This lecture covers the basics of why pain management is so important in the surgical patient. We will discuss different modalities used to keep patients comfortable. Attendees will leave with a better understanding of how to identify and manage patient pain.

Stacey Reiling graduated from Harcum College in 2000 with an Associate of Science in Veterinary Technology degree. She became a certified veterinary technician in 2000, and worked as a veterinary anesthesia technician at the Matthew J. Ryan Veterinary Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Stacey obtained her AVTAA specialty certificate in Anesthesia and Analgesia in 2005. She made the move from university setting to specialty practice in 2010, and became a Certified Veterinary Pain Practitioner (CVPP) in 2015, and joined NorthStar VETS in early 2017. Stacey has interest in anesthesia and pain management for both surgical and non-surgical, domestic and non-domestic patients, as well as a special interest in the mechanics of anesthesia machines and monitors. She loves to teach and has provided many RACE approved presentations for veterinary technicians and veterinarians. Stacey is always looking for ways to improve patient care and comfort.
