COPPER ASSOCIATED
HEPATOPATHY IN DOGS

This webinar gives a brief review of the liver enzymes and functional markers on a chemistry profile. It will further discuss other diagnostics that can aid in diagnosis of liver disease in dogs, such as bile acids and hepatic ultrasonography. From there, the remainder of the presentation focuses on copper associated hepatopathy in dogs, including how/when to sample the liver and what treatment options are available.

Karah Burns Demarle, DVM, DACVIM
Dr. Burns DeMarle was born and raised in Rochester, New York.
She completed her undergraduate studies in New York, receiving
both an associate’s degree in veterinary science technology from
SUNY Canton and a bachelor’s degree in animal science from Cornell University. From there, she moved to Ohio to complete her veterinary degree at The Ohio State University. Upon graduation in 2016, she moved to Massachusetts to complete a one-year rotating internship followed by a 3-year small animal internal medicine residency at the Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University. Although she enjoys all aspects of internal medicine, she has a special interest
in diseases that affect the liver and gallbladder of cats and dogs.
