Prenatal & Infant Care Luncheon

Sleep Well, Little One: Safe Sleep Information and Resources to Keep Babies Protected and Healthy

Keeping babies safe and healthy is paramount for any parent or caregiver. As information is updated and best practices change over time, it’s important that caregivers and services providers stay abreast for ourselves, our clients, and the little ones in our lives. Join us for an educational and interactive conversation on the newest best safe sleep practices and resources to help our local community. This luncheon is a free educational and networking opportunity for professional and volunteer care givers to pregnant women, infants and new families.

Allie Houston, IDOH Prevention Programs Director,  has worked at the Indiana Department of Health for the past three years with the goal of lowering the infant mortality rate through safe sleep education, data-driven prevention strategies, and locally led community action teams. In her current role as Prevention Programs Director, Allie oversees the Infant Safe Sleep, Handle With Care, and Community Action programs. As the Central Indiana Community Coordinator, Allie had worked with both state and local level fatality review teams, assisted in crafting recommendations to prevent deaths in Indiana. Allie has led safe sleep trainings and resources for a variety of different partners including first responders, hospital facilities, and numerous social service organizations. Allie holds a B.S. from Indiana State University.

Allie will share new American Academy of Pediatrics guidelines, Indiana Department of Health Resources, and other relevant safe sleep information, trends, and prevention strategies.
