DESCRIPTION

Led by STGi Early Childhood Specialists, this 2-day training is intended for TLC Facilitators, designed as a Train the Trainer for those who will be directly leading the TLC sessions.

This 2-day training is intended for those who will be TLC Facilitators, as a group coaching option supporting the Practice Based Coaching Model. Together Learning & Collaborating (TLC) is a unique Practice-Based Coaching approach, to support teachers and home visitors to improve education practices. TLC is a group format of the Practice-Based Coaching model which includes self, peer, and expert coaching components, creating collaborative teaching communities for ongoing professional development. This session is for those interested in facilitating TLCs in their program to support center-based Head Start or Early Head Start classrooms and/or home visitor staff.
The Together, Learning and Collaborating (TLC), formerly Teachers, Learning and Collaborating, is a group format Practice-Based Coaching model for ongoing professional development. This approach can be used across different types of programs and age groups, including center-based, school-based, and home-based programs. The method pairs a small group of teachers with a trained facilitator who helps them use evidence-based strategies to improve children’s learning and development. Both teachers and facilitators are trained in a framework for understanding classroom quality, which gives them a shared understanding of the objectives of their work together.
Participants will select Home-Based or Center-Based focus as part of the registration process.

TLC OVERVIEW

  • A group format Practice-Based Coaching model for ongoing professional development
  • Combines different types of coaching: expert (trained facilitator), peer (fellow participants), and self (participant) coaching
  • In-person participant work groups led by trained facilitators, supported by independent classroom video recordings, and guided by group discussions on practices
  • Process to focus on teaching practice using video recording, reflection, group and individual feedback
  • Cost-effective way to provide group coaching using a ‘content ready’ approach.
