This workshop will cover various aspects of the design and construction of masonry structures. Some of the topics that will be discussed include: overview of the CSA masonry standards, masonry units, mortar and grout, connectors, construction tolerances, movement joints, cold weather construction, mortar joints, and masonry cavity wall systems.
Following the presentation attendees will have the opportunity to view constructed masonry assemblages with a focus on practical application of various topics discussed during the presentation.
Attendees will learn how to specify masonry units and all its components plus how to inspect masonry wall construction.
Bring work clothes and be prepared to get dirty as participants will have the opportunity to lay brick.
