Architectural Sheet Metal Flashing is a one-day course related to design, assessment, and detailing. Topics covered include material selection, attachment, joinery, expansion joint detailing, fabrication tolerances, drainage assemblies, and penetration flashings. Within sheet metal joinery, the subjects of proper soldering techniques, proper solder repair procedures, as well as application of specific metal joinery types are developed fully. The course will communicate the fundamentals and more advanced topics suitable for architects, engineers, and building enclosure consulting professionals.

Jon Peat, RRC, RRO - Petra Contract Services Ltd.

Jon has been involved with IIBEC (RCI) since 1998 when he still had the gloves on.  He started with the Ontario Chapter where he earned the Registered Roof Observer designation in 2002.  He was a member of the Gulf Coast Chapter in Houston, TX and earned the Registered Roof Consultant designation in 2007.  He served as an RCI Region V (Canada) Director in 2012 and helped develop the Canadian Prairies Chapter.  Currently he resides in Calgary, Alberta, and sits on the IIBEC Canadian Education Committee to help maintain and develop new and existing IIBEC courses. Jon has delivered dozens of IIBEC presentations and courses throughout the past 20 years and been a mentor for many members undertaking the RRO or RRC examinations.  He is a strong believer in “sharing the knowledge and information” and promotes the development of all those individuals who are motivated to learn. Outside of the roofing and consulting realm, he enjoys time with family, walking and nature, woodworking, and helping make others’ lives easier.

Russ Raymond, RBEC, RRC, REWC, RWC, RRO, CDT, CEI - Seal Building Enclosure

Russell has over 30 years experience in the sheet metal and roofing  contracting and building envelope consulting industries.  He started his career in an architectural sheet metal contracting company in Louisville, Kentucky and is a third-generation sheet metal tradesman. Russ began his building enclosure consulting career in 2007 in Houston, Texas. He has designed and specified roofing and sheet metal systems for major petro/chemical clients, museums, sports venues, and hospital systems, as well as a number of historic restoration projects. He has also assessed and inspected installations on numerous projects along the Gulf Coast, throughout the United States, as well as several international projects.  Mr. Raymond has also performed numerous investigations pertaining to sheet metal, roofing and waterproofing, as well as cladding and glazing-related failures. He is a Registered Building Envelope Consultant, Registered Roof Observer, Certified EIFS Inspector, a Certified Tile Roofing Installer, Certified Level 1 Infrared Thermographer, and a Construction Documents Technologist. In addition, Russ was the 2014 winner of the RCI now IIBEC) Volunteer of the Year Award.


Remo R. Capolino, P.E., RRC

Reno has over 35 years of experience in the roofing, waterproofing, and sheet metal industries.  His experienced began in his family-owned roofing and specialty sheet metal contracting company in the 1980’s and continued in 1997 when he began exterior envelope consulting in the Pacific Northwest.  Remo is experienced in all aspects of building envelope consultation, including forensic investigation, testing standards, litigation consulting and testimony, design, detailing, construction document production, contract administration, site observations, and peer review. He actively works with low- and steep-slope roofing, architectural sheet metal, windows, doors, curtain walls, all types of siding, damproofing, and waterproofing. Remo received a B.S. in Civil Engineering in 1991 from the University of Connecticut, in 2002 he earned his Registered Roof Consultant from RCI (now IIBEC), and in 2004 he earned his Professional Engineering license from New York State.

Cancellation Policy

  • Should you wish to cancel your registration, refunds will be issued up to two weeks prior to the event and a $25 administrative fee will apply.  After that time, no refunds will be permitted.  "No Shows" will not receive a refund, however, substitutions are permitted.
  • Should IIBEC Southern Ontario Chapter cancel the course, we will notify you before April 6th and a full refund will be issued.
