Doug and Jeanan Yasiri Moe:

Doug Moe, a lifelong Madisonian and graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, was called “the inimitable chronicler of Madison” by Pulitzer Prize-winning author David Maraniss. Moe has worked as a journalist and author for almost 40 years. As a daily newspaper columnist for The Capital Times and Wisconsin State Journal, he wrote some 4,000 columns. 

Prior to his newspaper career, he was editor of Madison Magazine where he remains a regular contributor to the Magazine’s online and print editions today. He is also a regular contributor to Milwaukee Magazine.   He has won numerous awards for his writing, including being voted best local writer or columnist more than a dozen times. His books include “The World of Mike Royko” (a Chicago Tribune Choice Selection of the Year); and “Lords of the Ring: The Triumph and Tragedy of College Boxing’s Greatest Team,” runner-up for the Derleth Award for best non-fiction book of the year by a Wisconsin author. He is currently collaborating with former Wisconsin Gov. Tommy G. Thompson on Thompson’s autobiography. Moe and his wife, Jeanan, live in Madison.

Jeanan Yasiri Moe is an executive serving higher education, health care and nonprofit interests over the past 30 years. Today she is Director of Strategic Communications for WARF – Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation, where she leads the strategic communications, advocacy and marketing initiatives for WARF, a 90+ year foundation committed to supporting scientific research at the University of Wisconsin.

Jeanan was one of the founders of the UW Center for Nonprofits, serving as the Executive Director there at its inception. As a health care executive she led nationally award winning programs at Dean Health System and at Group Health Cooperative on health care access matters -- at GHC specifically associated with the Affordable Care Act. 

Jeanan currently volunteers as the Chair of the Give Back Foundation Board which holds the federal contract for the Combined Federal Campaign serving federal employees nationally and worldwide in the military.  She also serves on the UW Athletic Board.

About Boris:
Boris has been involved in the nonprofit world for over 50 years, the last 35 as a senior consultant primarily in the areas of fundraising and development, management, marketing and strategic planning.

From 1964 to 1982 he was on the faculty of The University of Wisconsin, serving as the Manager of Administration for WHA-TV. Prior to that, he was the Manager of the International Broadcast Division of Screen Gems, Manager of Caribbean Operations for Bartell Broadcasting, and Executive Assistant to TV and Broadway Producer David Susskind.

Boris has served as management, development and strategic planning consultant for over 500 nonprofit organizations including:

• The Dane County, Eau Claire, Portage, Jefferson County, La Crosse, Fond du Lac, Lakeland, Richland Center and Michigan Upper Peninsula (UPAWS) Humane Societies and shelters;
• Manitowoc, Sauk-Prairie, Deforest, Janesville, Sun Prairie, Door County and Verona performing arts facilities;
• The Madison College/MATC Culinary School, Operation Fresh Start, Briarpatch, Housing Initiatives, Inc., Olbrich Gardens and Lussier Neighborhood Center capital campaigns;
• Madison Area Jazz Consortium and Madison Youth Choirs;
• More than 85 libraries in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Illinois, Indiana, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Michigan;
• Senior Centers in Madison, Sun Prairie, Sheboygan, Watertown and Oshkosh;
• Madison, Milwaukee and Green Bay Botanical Gardens.

Boris teaches workshops and seminars on Strategic Planning, Fundraising, Marketing, Board and Organizational Development, Grantsmanship, Volunteer Management and Proposal Writing for nonprofits. Over 35,000 have attended his courses.

He is on the faculties of the UW-Milwaukee Bader Institute; the UW Certified Public Management program; and the United Way/SCORE Nonprofit Management Training Program.

He currently serves on the following boards:

• Wisconsin Association of Charitable Gift Planners (President);
• Leadership Wisconsin (Past President);
• Bear’s Place Animal Rescue and Hospice (Secretary);
• Madison Civics Club (Co-Chair 2014-15).

He is Past President of Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Dane County, the Combat Blindness Foundation and the Friends of WHA-TV; and past Board member of Capital K9’s (Founder and President); United Cerebral Palsy (Secretary); the Wisconsin Library Association Foundation (Treasurer); Asset Builders of America (Secretary); the Madison Metropolitan YMCA; the Perinatal Foundation (Vice President); and the Madison Rotary Club (Life Member). 

Other volunteer activities include: American Red Cross; Badger Prairie Needs Network Food Pantry; SCORE Senior Volunteer Executives; Madison Savoyards.

He is a Founding Member and Past President of the Madison Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals.

AFP Greater Madison Cancellation and Refund Policy

In order for AFP Greater Madison to confirm meals and seating with the venue, cancellations must be received in writing via email or U.S. mail at least 48 business hours before the start of an event to be eligible for a full refund. No refunds will be made for requests received after that time, or by other means.  You may always send an alternate to an event without additional charge.
Refunds will be issued in the same form payment was made. Please allow two weeks for processing.
