The Valley Summer Youth Band

Valley Summer Youth Band is an intensive six week program that targets Valley students, who are entering 7th through 10th grade, who want to expand and enhance their playing skills in the context of professional leadership and a community band experience with their peers from the entire area.  The end product of the program is a high quality band, playing level appropriate and challenging music.  During the last three weeks of the band experience, the band will play concerts at community events and public places for the enjoyment of friends, family and the general public.

Participants:  Instrumentalists from all over the valley who are entering 7th through 10th grade .  Students from all area middle and high schools are welcome -  including private, alternative, and home school students. (Up to ten advanced instrumentalists who are going into 11th and 12th grade will be recruited to be section leaders.)

Dates:      June 7 to July 21 (no events the week of July 4th)

Rehearsals:      Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Teeland Middle School.  There will be a one week break the week of July 4th to accommodate  celebrations and vacations.

Performances: Participants will perform in multiple performances following the first three weeks of rehersals. 

Cost:     Tuition will be $250 per person for the six week program.  If two participants are from the same family, the tuition will be $450 for the two students.  If three participants are from the same family, the tuition will be $600.  Partial and full scholarships are available.
