Make a difference in our community!

Bleed for a Cause is your chance to make a difference in our community and the Dan Beard Council!  During the summer months blood donations are especially slow for Hoxworth, so they decided to set up a competition that will help our community and help local organizations.  YOU can help us win $10,000!!!!  Our goal is to get 500 people to donate blood.  There are 64 other non-profits we are competing against and we need your help!   Here is how it works: 

 

The Point System:

We receive points when you register to give blood in the name of "Dan Beard Council, Boy Scouts of America."  To score points for us, you must write our name on the paperwork and mention us during the registration process PRIOR to donating blood.  As they say at Hoxworth, "No Say = No Pay!"  Points are earned for the blood donated depending on the type:

1. Whole Blood Donation = 1 point

2. Double Red Donation = 2 points

3. Platelet Donation = 3 points

4. 1st time donor will receive 2 bonus points!

The most points any one donor can score is 5: first-time donor giving a platelet donation.  Platelet donors can give every two weeks.  If a platelet donor donates multiple times during July, all those donations will be counted.  Make sense? 

Last year the organization who won the grand prize had 309 people donate blood.  They are participating again this year, so our goal is to have 500 people donate on behalf of the Dan Beard Council.  Each week we will be posting our standing on FaceBook and Twitter.  We need you to help us win $10,000 to improve our program!

When This Starts:

The competition begins Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at 12:01am and ends Thursday, July 31, 2014 at 11:59pm. 

Where to Donate: 

We are having Hoxworth come to the Scout Achievement Center on July 3rd from 10am-4pm and Camp Friedlander on July 31st from 12pm-6pm.  To register to donate blood, click the button below and select the date you are available.
