With the future of mobility being shaped and reshaped at an ever-increasing speed, the time is now for the TDM industry to gather and discuss how communities, service providers and other stakeholders can achieve the transportation system of tomorrow that we desire; increasing mobility and improving our quality of life.  ACT is taking on this challenge by hosting the Emerging Mobility Summit that will bring together over 100 subject matter experts, community leaders, entrepreneurs, academics, and thought leaders focused on the future of transportation and mobility all in one room for facilitated conversations to identify paths forward, opportunities for research, and what might be in store for the future of TDM.

This hands on two-day event will dive into the challenges and opportunities we face right now and will feature small facilitated discussion groups designed for you to ask new questions and help provide solutions on a range of challenges and opportunities.  The event will conclude with a tour of the Ohio State University and the Transportation Research Center, the nation's largest vehicle testing facility.

Public Transit in an Autonomous Future
With each new innovation in transportation, the line between traditional public transit and the future of mobility gets thinner and thinner. What will the impacts of large scale autonomous vehicle adoption mean for public transit systems across the country? How can the two work together to increase mobility options while preserving the important aspects of access and equity?  This panel will bring together leaders of public transit and autonomous vehicle companies to discuss how we achieve a win-win future for commuters and our communities.

10:45 – 2:00 Tour of the Transportation Research Center (optional)

What does it take to be the largest independent vehicle testing facility and proving grounds in the U.S.? Hardworking industry experts; a well-developed infrastructure with an extensive variety of road surfaces; on-site development of leading-edge and emerging technologies; 30-plus years of engineering expertise and industry knowledge; a long-time partnership with a major research university; strong global connections and an eye constantly focused on the client’s needs. It also takes a secure location – operating 24/7 – with approximately 4,500 acres of road courses, wooded trails, a 7.5-mile (12.1 km) High-speed Oval Test Track, 50-acre (20-hectare) Vehicle Dynamics Area, or “black lake,” and the right mix of testing areas and facilities to make the Transportation Research Center Inc. (TRC) in East Liberty, Ohio, the best place to test and validate nearly any vehicle imaginable, any time of year.

During our tour, we will be viewing and driving on TRC’s numerous outdoor facilities. Including our skid pad, 50 acre vehicle dynamics area, durability areas and 7.5 mile track. The hour long tour will also cover the unique indoor laboratories and TRC’s SMARTCenter.
