Fundamental Concepts and Advanced Concepts and Corrective Techniques of Kinesio Taping® Method

Description
This two day course is designed to provide physical, occupational and interested others with information and instruction on Kinesio Taping methods.  Kinesio Taping is a method of treatment for musculoskeletal and myofacial disorders and edema control.  This method can be used during physical activity and in conjunction with many therapies.  Attendees will gain insight into theory and taping techniques for a variety of concerns, including joint instability, muscular weakness, abnormal alignment, pain and inflammation.

Please bring your own scissors and wear proper attire for taping (tank top and shorts).

Objectives: Participants will be able to: 
  1. Describe the concepts of Kinesio Taping.
  2. Review muscular anatomy as it is related to Kinesio Taping.
  3. Explain and apply the concepts of the Kinesio Taping Method.
  4. Describe the unique qualities of the Kinesio Tex Tape.
  5. Recognize the principles of Kinesio Tex Tape application.
  6. Utilize and demonstrate application skills in guided laboratory sessions.
  7. Demonstrate application skills during lab sessions.
  8. Practice the various cutting techniques and their clinical application.
  9. Apply Kinesio Taping method to relax and stimulate muscles.
  10. Apply Kinesio Taping methods for pain, swelling, joint mobility and stability.
  11. Apply various taping techniques for treatment of the spine, and upper/ lower extremity dysfunction
  12. Apply various taping techniques for treatment of unique conditions using the concepts and principals of the Kinesio Taping Method.

Deanna M. Wanzek, PT, PCS, CKTI, CLT, is a graduate of the Mayo Foundation School of Physical Therapy. She has specialized in pediatrics for the past thirty years utilizing a holistic approach to evaluation and treatment. She incorporates myofascial release, craniosacral, muscle energy and other complementary skills. She is certified in the use of Universal Exercise Unit/TheraSuit Method. She teaches in the Pediatrics course at St. Catherine University in St. Paul, Minnesota. She is recognized by the Kinesio Taping Association as a Certified Instructor and was named Instructor of the Year for 2007. She is also a Certified Lymphatic Therapist. She is an APTA board certified Pediatric Clinical Specialist. DeDe is employed by Foundations Therapy in Menomonie, Wisconsin.

Cancellation Policy

All cancellations must be in writing, including the reason for canceling and must received by RAIR at least three weeks prior to the course; no compensation will be granted after that date. If the cancellation meets the three week deadline, a refund, minus a $50 processing fee, will be issued following the program. Participants may transfer their tuition to a colleague with no penalty up until the day of the course. Tuition transfers must be in writing and include the new participant’s registration form.

RAIR reserves the right to cancel any course with due cause and refund in full. Participants purchasing NON-refundable airfare tickets are encouraged to inquire as to session availability before final purchase. Registrants bear the sole responsibility for their transportation to the Symposium. Weather and/or transportation difficulties are not the responsibility of the Symposium sponsor, Richter Active Integration Resources, and failure of a chosen means of transportation is not grounds for tuition refund when the Symposium is held.
