Renowned composer Michael Joy of Philadelphia, PA was named the 2004 Composer of the Year by Jeffers Publishing Company for his composition Dorian Dance. Michael has an envious handbell pedigree, having studied handbells with Donald Allured and handbell composition with Arnold Sherman. An accomplished director and clinician, Michael has taught at Area II and III festivals, PMEA district and state conferences, Handbell Exploration and the AGEHR National Seminar. Michael has been the Music Director at the First Presbyterian Church in Ambler, PA for the last 31 years, and is also currently the middle school music teacher at The Shipley School in Bryn Mawr, PA where he conducts 15 different handbell groups.
Back Bay Ringers is pleased to present this workshop opportunity in partnership with the Hills Bells at the Wellesley Hills Congregational Church (address and directions on left). The schedule to the left includes three workshop sessions and a reading session. The registration fee of $65 includes a free ticket to a Back Bay Ringers concert of your choice!
Each participant should bring gloves and a music binder.
Participants may bring their own lunch, or may choose to have one provided for an additional $10 fee. Beverages and snacks will be available on site.
