9:00 - 9:45 AM    Handbell Techniques

What the abbreviations mean, how to execute them correctly, and how to get from one technique to another.

9:50 - 10:35 AM   Choose from two options

  • Reading Music -- for beginners and anyone who is confused by all the black dots, squiggly lines, and foreign words on the page
  • Four-in-Hand -- learn to ring 2 bells in each hand. If you already know the basics of ringing four-in-hand, we will have some challenges for you in damping and changing bells.

10:35 - 10:55 AM    Coffee Break

Beverages and snacks will be provided

10:55 - 11:40 AM   Choose from two options

  • Weaving -- practice setting down the bells and picking up new ones so that you can play those accidentals that are in the music, or perhaps you want to try solo ringing
  • Ringing Shorthanded -- what do you do when you don't have a full choir.  We will look at 12-bell music that can be played by 3, 4, 5, or 6 ringers.

11:45 - 12:30 PM    Sightreading

We will look at a piece of music and work to put together all the skills we worked on during the other classes.

12:30 PM    Pack Up

Have a safe trip home!

What to Bring

Remember to bring a music binder and gloves. A mid-morning beverage and snack will be provided. We will also provide all of the necessary equipment.
