Wisconsin Asian Carp Summit
You are invited to join representatives from federal and state agencies, research institutions, local river groups, and sportsmens' organizations to discuss Wisconsin's preparedness for the arrival of Asian Carp. While much attention has been given to the Chicago canal system and the Great Lakes, carp are arriving through the backdoor via the Mississippi River and, potentially, over our highways. Join us in a discussion to ensure that we all are doing our part to prevent, control, and mitigate their arrival here in Wisconsin.
Objectives:
- Discuss the current status of Asian carp in the Mississippi River Basin and Wisconsin's inland waters,
- Discuss the potential implications of Asian carp becoming established in Wisconsin's inland lakes and rivers,
- Learn about current approaches to protect Wisconsin's waters by state and federal agencies,
- Identify gaps in our collective efforts, and
- Increase public awareness about the threat posed by Asian carp and current efforts to stop their spread.
