Attend Women's Advocacy Day 2015!

Join the National Coalition of 100 Black Women -- Queen City Metropolitan Chapter as we travel to Raleigh, NC for Women's Advocacy Day 2015!

  • Learn the basics of advocacy and about local and state issues that affect women
  • Meet with legislators and discuss the issues you care about most
  • Get to know women's groups from across the state and learn how to get involved

Travel in style on a safe, comfortable mini-bus as we raise our voices for women in our state!

Tuesday, February 24th, 2015

Bus departs Charlotte NC at 6:00am  and returns from Raleigh, NC at 2:00pm

(Drop your car and meet the bus at Ikea -- 8300 Ikea Boulevard, Charlotte NC and ride in style!) 


 

Sponsored by NC Women United, you can expect information on current bills before the legislature that will affect women in the areas of: 
Access to Health Care
Civic Participation and Equality
Economic Self Sufficiency
Violence Against Women
The day will include training on the specific “hot” issues in these four areas as well as tips for effective lobbying. 

Agenda

6:00am - Departure from Charlotte, NC  via charter bus -- meet the bus at Ikea (8300 Ikea Blvd, Charlotte NC) 

8:30am - Registration opens on the first floor of the legislative building (there will be an opportunity to meet with NC Women United members who have tables)

9:00am - Program kicks off in the legislative building auditorium, on 2nd floor. There will be several speakers,  including an hour of advocacy training and issues education. The keynote presentation will begin at 10:15am 


11:00am - NC Women United press conference in legislative building 

11:00am-12:30pm - Participants to have scheduled legislative visits during this time--groups will potentially gather across the street (at the museum) for any participants who may want to talk about how their visits went

12:30pm - 1:45pm -  Lunch on your own (there are options across the street from the legislative building at the museums of  history and natural sciences, respectively) 

2:00 pm - Return to Charlotte, NC via charter bus

Cost for Bus Trip: $25.00 per rider
