From Tolerance to Celebration; Diversity and Inclusion in 2020

Diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) are popular topics in professional development today, but despite this popularity, they remain largely misunderstood or misinterpreted. In this webinar, we will explore what the differences between diversity, equity, and inclusion are and how DEI can be applied today.
Objectives:
Participants will leave:
- With a working knowledge of the differences between diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- With tools to navigate how D&I can be applied within their field.
- With a strategic framework for how DEI can increase their business' retention and productivity and decrease liability.
Dr. Laura McGuire is a nationally recognized sexuality educator, trauma-informed specialist, and inclusion consultant. She has worked as an instructor, presenter, educator, consultant.
Her experience includes both public and private sectors, middle schools, high schools, and university settings.
As a social scientist, she specializes in sexual violence prevention and diversity, equity, and inclusion. In 2015, she served as the first Sexual Violence Prevention and Education Program Manager at the University of Houston, and in 2017, she became the first Victim Advocate/Prevention Educator at the US Merchant Marine Academy where she also advised on transgender inclusion policy. She is a member of the American Association of Sexuality Educators Counselors and Therapists (AASECT), Society of Professional Consultants, and is a member of numerous boards and committees.
Dr. McGuire lives in the United States, where she works as a full-time consultant and expert witness at The National Center for Equity and Agency.
