Minneapolis Haas Mill (TM/VF/VM/MiniMill/EC/UMC/GR Series) Training - May 29th - June 1st  2018

The Haas Mill classes are Basic Classes intended for individuals that will setup and run a Haas Mill (VF/VM/MiniMill/EC/UMC/TM Series). Below are brief descriptions of the courses and what is covered in each class.

Classroom Training is included with a new machine purchase and you may register up to (3) operators per class.  NOTE:  If you have purchased a Used machine, please contact the Training Coordinator for more information on purchasing Classroom Training.

Operators should have general machining knowledge prior to taking any of the classes.

Classes run from 9 am to 4 pm each day with an hour for lunch (on your own) with the exception of Friday's WIP Class that finishes closer to 1:00.

Depending on your machine model and configuration, you may select the TM* or MOP**, MPRO and (if equipped) WIPS.

*The TM Operator Class is offered once a month, with additional class offerings added if needed. If you have a TM model, you will want to take the TM Operator, MPRO Mill Programming and (if equipped) WIPS Probe Classes for the Tool Room Mill.  You do NOT have to take them the same week.

TM (*For TM Series Models):  The 1-day Basic Operator Class is intended for individuals that will setup and run a Haas Tool Room Mill.  The course covers the use of the Haas control panel, download and upload of programs, the setting of tool geometry, the setting of work coordinate offsets and production set up and operation of the machine tool.

FOR TM and MOP Classes:  The class also covers the IPS (Intuitive Programming System) and the new Next Generation (NG2) Control with VPS (Visual Programming System).  It is recommended if you have both the old style and new NG2 Control that you watch this short video Haas NG2 Control from Haas prior to attending the class.

MOP (**For VF/VM/UMC/EC/Mini Mill/GR Series Models):  The 1-day Basic Operator Class is intended for individuals that will setup and run a Haas mill.  The course covers use of the Haas control panel,  download and upload of programs, the setting of  tool length offsets, the setting of  work coordinate offsets and production set up and operation of the machine tool.

(SEE NOTE ABOVE REGARDING NEW NEXT GENERATION CONTROL)

MPRO (For all Haas Mills):  This 2-day Basic Programming Class is intended for individuals that use G-code to program Haas mills.  The course covers program format, linear and circular interpolation, tool nose radius compensation and various canned cycles used for drilling, tapping, boring, pocket milling and threading.

PRE-REQUISITE:  Operator must have completed the Basic Mill Operator Class or equivalent training/experience prior to taking the Mill Programming Class.

WIPS (For all Haas Mills equipped with WIPS Probe):  This 1-day Probe Class is a six-hour course designed for individuals that use Wireless Intuitive Probe System for setting tool length offsets and work offset coordinates.  Calibration of the probe system is reviewed.   Course does not cover using probes to measure features such as diameters, overall length, etc. on piece parts.

The course will include the VQCPS (Visual QuickCode) and IPS (Intuitive Programming System as well as the new Next Generation (NG2) Control with VPS (Visual Programming System). They do run very differently, so if you have a WIPS Probe on both old and new controls, it is recommended you attend this class.

PRE-REQUISITE:  Operator must have completed the Basic Mill Operator Class or equivalent training/experience prior to taking the WIPS Probe.

ADVMPRO (For all Haas Mills):  This 2-day Advanced Programming Class is intended for individuals that use G-code to program Haas mills.  The course covers more in depth program formatting, including Haas Programmer Optimizer, Advanced Tool Management, Tool Length Offset and Cutter Radius Compensation Techniques; Arc on/Arc off with Tool Compensation; G68 and G51 Programming; Fixture offsets; Datum Shifts; G10 Usage; Sub-Programs; G12-G13; Helical Milling and 4th Axis Milling.

The Advanced Programming Class is the next step after the Basic Mill Programming Class.

PRE-REQUISITE:  Operator must have completed the Basic Mill Programming Class or equivalent training/experience prior to taking the Mill Programming Class.
