Combat Culture: Violence Prevention Strategies & Techniques
Strategies and techniques for violence prevention and information about pervasive violence culture
4-Hour Professional Development Session:
Earn a CUNY Certificate of Completion and CTLE Credit for Professional and Level III Teaching Assistant certificate holders.
Shootings. Hate crimes. Bullying. Conflict and Injustice. Images 
and acts of violence confront us daily in the media and our communities. The results can lead to attitudes and behaviors that harm our children and schools. How do we support young people navigating a volatile climate? Join us as we address these issues using the power of drama to cultivate discussion, share ideas, and problem solve as a community. Together we will explore healthy practices to foster care and trust in our schools and communities, and find effective strategies to de-escalate combative environments.
- Explore short-term and long term effects of violence
- Identify patterns of abusive behavior
- Identify early warning signs of high-conflict situations
- Create best practices to foster communities of trust
- Practice strategies to de-escalate conflict
Who should attend? Educators, school staff, parents, anyone interested in building and cultivating the development of young people.
