9:50 - 10:40 am Viva Las Vegas - Presented by HBA Members from Night Court, A boy, a girl and an invention meet Elvis and Google at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas to teach an attorney a valuable lesson in ethics. A dramatic piece teaches the dangers of representing married spouses in a business transaction in which the two spouses may have diverging interests in the future.  1 hour CLE and CE Ethics Credit

1:15 - 3:15 pm  “Just the Fracs Ma’am”  - Hydraulic Fracturing Shale Fields.  Presented by Frank Culberson and Phil Watters, Rimkus Consulting Group, Inc - This course is designed to give knowledge in the drilling and operations phase of the industry and the emerging shale industry for oil and gas production. Hydraulic fracturing is being criticized by many environmentalists who contend that the procedures used may contaminate soil and drinking water. The pros and cons of hydraulic fracturing will be included in the presentation along with the legal issues and claims that can arise from hydraulic fracturing operations. 2 CLE and CE Credits

1:15 - 3:15 pm "Hey, It’s Not My Fault”Keys to Identifying Subrogation in Commercial Property and Construction Claims.  Presented by Bill Mazur, Rimkus Consulting Group, Inc.  In many property claims a subrogation potential may exist based on the type of damage and the causative event creating the reported damage.  This class addresses how to identify other liable parties through a detailed cause and origin investigation.  This expert analysis / investigation requires a broad range of scientific, engineering and regulatory knowledge to identify the causative links to a third party(s). 2 CLE and CE Credits

1:15 - 2:15 pm “More than Just a Pain in the Neck” - Disc Biomechanics.  Presented by Dr. Richard Baratta, Rimkus Consulting Group, Inc.  This course is designed to acquaint the participants with the mechanical properties and function of spinal discs and how they bear load and react to forces.  The course will provide sufficient familiarity with the mechanical behavior of discs to allow the participant to understand the relationship between common accidental events and commonly claimed injuries.  1 CLE and CE Credit

3:30 - 4:30 pm “It’s More Than 1’s and 0’s”  - Digital Forensics/E-Discovery.  Presented by David Sandlin with Rimkus Consulting Group, Inc.  This course will discuss how Digital Information can be a common component in insurance claims and acquiring relevant data at the onset of a claim can fit into an adjuster’s strategic approach. The presentation will provide a basic foundation in Computer Forensics and E-Discovery. 1 CLE and CE Credit

3:30 - 4:30 pm “When Your Reach Exceeds Your Grasp” Construction Crane Accidents.  Presented by Tom Gregory, Rimkus Consulting Group, Inc. This course will provide a working knowledge of the cause and origin of various construction site crane accidents and how to identify and prevent potential crane accidents. Federal OSHA regulations and industry standards and the division of responsibilities on a construction site pertaining to crane safety are addressed. 1 CLE and CE Credit

3:30 - 4:30 pm “The Motorcycle Always Comes In Second” - Motorcycle Accident Analysis and Reconstruction.  Presented by Dr. Richard Baratta, Rimkus Consulting Group, Inc.  This course will assist you in understanding the inherent differences in a motorcycle accident and a typical passenger vehicle accident. The differences between motorcycles and passenger vehicles in terms of handling, acceleration, braking, and stability will be discussed. 1 CLE and CE Credit
