February 23, 2013

On February 23, 2013, the Huntington Beach Public Library (HBPL) – Literacy Volunteers will host “Wine & Words,” a wine tasting event in support of our literacy program.

We will be tasting a variety of five different wines from ONEHOPE. Included will be a Chardonnay, a Sauvignon Blanc, a Cabernet Sauvignon, a Merlot, and a Sparkling wine.

Take advantage of our early bird price of $30 until Feb. 1,
after which registration is $35 per person.

Raffles & Silent Auction!

We will be selling raffle tickets and also hosting a silent auction at the event!

Raffle prizes will include gift certificates to local restaurants, and the silent auction will include themed "Wine & Words" pairings.

Confirmed raffle prizes:

We are excited to announce that the GRAND PRIZE raffle prize is 4 One-Day Park Hopper tickets to DISNEYLAND RESORT! (Valued at $500, this is an amazing prize, and can only be won by attending "Wine & Words" and purchasing a raffle ticket.)

Don't miss out on this and other great prizes available this night!

Please join us on February 23 as we toast our program and raise much needed funds. The efforts of all of us combined are helping create better citizens and a better community.

About Literacy Volunteers

Literacy Volunteers – HBPL, an accredited affiliate of ProLiteracy America, provides a vital service in the Huntington Beach, Fountain Valley, and surrounding communities by pairing tutors with adult learners for one-on-one English tutoring.

Literacy Volunteers has two programs to help adults and families develop the necessary English skills to communicate with their children, doctors, employers, neighbors, friends, and many others. Adult Literacy at Huntington Beach Public Library continues to grow as more and more adults realize the need to improve their literacy skills. Family Literacy at Oak View Branch Library supports the literacy efforts of parents to help them learn to read with their children in English.

Literacy Volunteers is a program of success stories – no matter how large or small the success may seem, each one is a triumph for our students and keeps them on the path to becoming better speakers, readers and writers. As our students develop their English skills they are able to improve their lives and contribute to the community. Our students have passed driving exams, gotten their GEDs, filled out job applications, been promoted at work, become accredited in their field, and become United States citizens.
