Doing Business in a Gig Economy
Panelists: JoHanna Cox, Kent Paul, Diane Villegas

Do you provide personal or business services to a variety of companies or individuals?  If so, you are part of a growing sector called the Gig Economy. This includes traditional service suppliers like solo practitioner lawyers, bookkeepers, accountants, barbers, and therapists.  It also includes new service providers like ride-hailers, restaurant food deliverers, dog walkers, and short-stay accommodations providers.

What knowledge and skills do you as a member of the gig economy need to acquire in order to reach your personal goals?  Our panelists will cover major issues faced by gig workers as well as the skills, practices, and habits that will make you more successful -- whatever your gig!

  • Your rights and obligations as an independent contractor
  • Effective time management
  • Good accounting and record keeping practices
  • Taxes and tax deductions
  • Potential liability and insurance

This workshop is aimed at those who work in the gig economy rather than the employers of gig workers.

 Cost:  $29.95

Facilitated by certified SCORE mentor, Pete Mikelson.
