Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine in the Support of Cancer Patients

Cancer patients require an integrative treatment approach. Acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine offer a variety of effective treatment options to support cancer patients during their western medical treatment regimens. This one-day lecture starts with a look at cancer, chemotherapy and radiation from a Chinese medical perspective. Thereafter, the focus lies on acupuncture protocols and the prescription of individualized Chinese herbal medicine to cancer patients during all stages: surgery, chemotherapy, radiation and recovery. This includes a discussion about the potential interactions between Chinese medicines and anticancer drugs and how to deal with this sensitive issue. Ample case histories illustrate the theory and ensure the clinical focus of this course. The goal of the day is to provide practitioners with the necessary knowledge and confidence to begin supporting cancer patients in their clinic.

A large portion of the course will be spent on herbal strategies and is best suited for practitioners and students with herbal medicine training and experience.
