March 2021 Member Luncheon 

Join us for the March 2021 membership luncheon at Richland Country Club on Tuesday, March 2 to hear from TCAT Murfressboro. 

Lauren Solina is currently working to create a statewide system of post-secondary education within nine of ten state-run prison facilities. She has spent a decade working in higher education, serving from Admissions to Advising to Adjunct Professor. Prior to working in higher education, she worked in the non-profit sector with the Workforce Investment and Opportunity Act (WIOA), and before that, as a K-12 educator. She is passionate about educational access and has had the opportunity to speak on that topic both as a conference presenter and on behalf of NASPA lobbying for the Higher Education Act, FUTURE Act, and Title IX. In her spare time, Lauren and her husband are avid fans of sports, craft beer, and bourbon.

   The Governor’s Correctional Education Initiative began in 2019 as a coordinated effort between several state agencies to create a statewide system of higher education in prison. Through that initiative, students are able to receive TN College of Applied Technology coursework in Building Construction Trades, Welding, and Industrial Electricity all while residing safely within the carceral setting. The TN Board of Regents Center for Workforce Development will be presenting the benefits of the Correctional Education Initiative as well as how your organization can partner with TBR and your local TCAT to provide stable employment to new graduates upon re-entry.
