Rieke ES is located in the SW Portland neighborhood known as Hillsdale -- close to I-5 off the SW Terwilliger/OHSU exit just one exit south of downtown.  The Hillsdale Farmer's Market takes place in the Rieke Parking lot from 10am-2pm on Sundays, so come early and park in the neighborhood and enjoy the Farmer's Market!

OSCF 2014 STATE QUALIFIER

EQUIPMENT:

Please bring a chess clock if you have one.  Boards and pieces will be provided.  Parents and spectators should bring folding chairs to relax on.

Come early to enjoy the fresh foods of the Hillsdale Farmer's Market, located just next to the School, from 10am-2pm.

AWARDS

  • In quads with average rating less than 1200, top prize will win a trophy.  Other prizes for lower places possible at organizer's discretion.  Ties broken based on single round armageddon (White 5 minutes, Black 3 minutes, draw odds for black).
  • In sections with average rating 1200+, cash prize of $30 for the top place.  Ties broken based on single round armageddon (White 5 minutes on clock, Black 3 minutes, draw odds for black (white must win)).

SECTION DETAILS: 

  • All players will be paired in quads by NWSRS rating or (if there is no NWSRS rating) USCF rating. G/25+5 time control.  Lower rated sections may be grouped into larger round robin or swiss paired sections at organizer's discretion.  NWSRS rated only.  Notation is not required in U1200 sections.  Clocks should be used from the beginning of the game in 1200+ sections.  In lower sections, clocks will be used only if both players agree, or if the Tournament Director puts a clock on the game to ensure completion of the game in a timely manner.
