Queen of Angels Parish CenterThe string technique class is designed for youth string instrument players who wish to fine tune their skills in a group setting. Over the course of three and four week sessions, students will engage in social interaction with other string players as we develop technique such as vibrato, shifting, playing in tune and ensemble tuning. Classes will build on each other for these musical skills that need patience, time, and repetition to develop. Each class will emphasize social interaction, support of our peer's musical progress, and the introduction of specific skill building exercises. Students will leave each class with a specific practice plan to work through during the week.
Participants may also consider joining the Chicago Youth Orchestra to further utilize these skills in a group ensemble setting. Information regarding CYO can be found here.
The class will take place on Fridays afternoons from 2:00 to 2:45 via Zoom. When in-person rehearsals become possible the class will resume at Queen of Angels Parish Center located at 4412 N. Western Avenue, Chicago, IL 60625
Participation is encouraged for the full summer, but the course will be broken up into several sessions per month.
