Step the Beat Music Fundamentals 

Our unique group lesson "pre-requisite" to private lessons. Through our combined teaching experience of more than 50 years, the instructors of Musical Chairs have created an innovative introductory music class designed to build a strong music foundation prior to beginning private instrument instruction. Our 4 focuses are:

Note Reading, Rhythm Essentials, Ear Training, Sight Reading 

Once these basic skills are mastered separate from the instrument, children can move into specific instruments with confidence and significantly less frustration.

Step the Beat classes take place at McPherson school. Teachers will gather students just before dismissal from their classrooms and then head to the classroom together. After Step the Beat they will return to aftercare or they can be picked up by parents or guardians.

This class has three offerings. Note: If all students are also enrolled in extended care, start time may be adjusted slightly with prior approval from parents.

Tuesdays, 10:45 - 11:15 (PreK - half day morning students only) 

Tuesdays, 2:50 - 3:20  (Kindergarten - 1st Grade)

Wednesdays, 2:50 - 3:20 (Kindergarten - 1st Grade) 

Thursdays, 2:50 - 3:20 (Preschool and Prek)

The Winter session will run January 11 - March 18

The tuition for Winter Step the Beat is $170.
