This hands-on workshop will cover making and handling pastry and preparing pie fillings starting with locally grown pumpkins and squash. For those interested in branching out beyond usual holiday fare, we'll also play with a few surprise vegetables that were once popular pie options in southeastern Massachusetts. Each participant will select his or her ingredients and make and bake a pie to take home. You'll also take home enough dough for one future pie, and several recipes to keep you baking.

 If you've never made a pie, pumpkin is a great place to start. Or maybe you just want to hone your pastry skills and gain confidence with a rolling pin. Either way, we'll have fun and bake a lot of great pies!
