Creating Amazing Water-Smart Parks and Playgrounds in MetroNorth and Greater Boston

Please join the Metropolitan Area Planning Council, and speakers from the Trust for Public Land and the Boston Society of Landscape Architects, to explore the development of Water-Smart Parks in MetroNorth and Greater Boston.

Water-smart parks can be exciting for kids and other users while also enabling water to be better managed, entering the ground as opposed to sewers, and preventing flooding and pollution in neighborhoods and waterways.  The need to improve public health by enhancing recreational opportunities, adapt communities to a changing climate, and meet heightened stormwater regulations, are all factors influencing the creation of innovative parks that serve a range of social, environmental and community health objectives.  At this forum you will learn about:

  • Examples of Water-Smart Parks in the Boston Area and Other Cities
  • Stormwater Regulations and Utilities as Drivers of Water-Smart Park Creation
  • Where to Best Locate Water Smart Parks to Address Changing Climate Conditions
  • How Cities and Towns in MetroNorth and Greater Boston Can Design, Finance, and Maintain Water Smart Parks and Collaborate to Develop Them

Municipal officials who work to plan, develop, design and maintain parks and open space in MetroNorth and Greater Boston should attend.

Please register today!  Look forward to seeing you on the 13th.
