Texas Compassion Hurricane Relief Project

The Atlantic Union Youth Ministries Department has partnered with the local Churches & Conferences in the Houston area to help restore impacted homes that were not covered by insurance. If you are high school age are above we are inviting you to join us from 11/3/17 to 11/10/17 show compassion and help with this reconstruction effort. Walter Harris, Disaster Preparedness expert & Owner of LaWalt Construction will be the project manager leading all efforts in Texas.

 

IMPORTANT INFORMATION TO KNOW

Who Can Participate?

1. Anyone of high school age are above capable of performing manual labor.

2. Both those with prior construction knowledge & those who are inexperienced.

What to bring?

1. Good Attitude 

2. Comfortable clothing

3. Teachable Spirit 

4. Sleeping Bags

5. ***Tools are not required but you can bring your own if you desire.

 

What to expect...

1. Volunteers are responsible for getting to the Texas area (Bush Intercontinental-IAH & William P. Hobby-HOU are the 2 airports in the area).

2. Volunteers will need to provide copies of their itineraries for airport pickup.

3. Volunteers unable to participate for the entire duration are still encouraged to participate but prior communication is required.

4. Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) will be provided for all Volunteers.

5. Some T-Shirts will be provided for Volunteers. 

6. Lodging and meals will be provided for volunteers. Lodging will be at churches and schools, sleeping bags will be required. 

7. The projects will all be the same restoring homes just different locations. 

8. Walter Harris will be the person responsible for assigning projects and also will be in charge in Texas.

We will not be effective addressing every impacted area but we will work with the local conference as they address the other areas.

8. All volunteer will need to complete register and the INDIVIDUAL INDEMNITY AND WAIVER OF LIABILITY form prior working on the project site.

9. All volunteers will need to complete mandatory safety training prior to working on projects.

10. Volunteer hours will be tracked.
