Expand your business! Become qualified as an ISA Tree Risk Assessment professional.
This TRAQ class and exam is open to all interested parties who meet the qualifications and is limited to 40 arborists (first-come/first-served). The qualification consists of a 2-day educational course followed by a ½ day assessment that includes both a written and field component. It is required that you attend the entire course and successfully complete the assessment in order to receive this qualification. The ISA Tree Risk Assessment Qualification is valid for five years from the date the TRAQ exam is passed. The qualification holder is required to take the course and pass the exam every five years in order to maintain the qualification.

In order to register at the Member Price you MUST be a member of ISA International.

All prerequisites for registering will be reviewed and your registration will be finalized via email.

Registration will be on a first-come-first-serve basis. Space is limited to 40 people.

Registration closes at midnight on April 24, 2015 (or when filled).

During the registration process you will be asked to agree to the terms and conditions in the handbook; if you do not agree with them you cannot take the course and exam. Find the handbook at:

If you feel you qualify to take the course because you hold a credential or have completed a program of study that is not listed on page 3 of the handbook, you can download the form to submit an appeal; the appeals process may take up to several months and may not allow enough time to attend this particular class.  Find the appeals form:

What is required to bring to the class:
 - your government issued photo ID
 - your TRAQ Manual and Workbook (will be shipped to the address you provide)
 - your hard hat and high visiblity vest or shirt (required)
 - #2 pencils and clipboard for taking notes and completing worksheets
 - rain gear, including a large ziplock bag (just in case!)

come prepared to spend part of the day outdoors
 -
please dress for your comfort level indoors and outdoors;
    we cannot always control the room
temperature to suit everyone

Meet the Instructors:

  • Norm Easey
    Norm Easey is CEO of the Florida Chapter ISA and has a special interest in sharing his tree knowledge; he is a familiar face at the chapter seminars as moderator, speaker and administrator. Most recently Norm served for 4 years on a panel of industry experts that created the ISA Tree Risk Assessment Qualification (TRAQ) credential.
  • Skip Kincaid
    Skip Kincaid is a consulting arborist with over twenty-five years of experience performing tree risk assessments and provides this expertise to other arborists, property managers, municipalities, attorneys, and the insurance industry. Skip enjoys teaching TRAQ and has taught over thirty TRAQ courses in the US and Canada.

An Overview:

You will have the privilege of learning Tree Risk Assessment from Norm Easey and Skip Kincaid, two seasoned TRAQ instructors. They will provide a  thorough presentation of the ISA Tree Assessment Manual accompanied with workbook activities. Indoor instruction will be followed-up with hands-on outdoor demonstrations that will walk you through the skills you need to know to become a knowledgeable Tree Risk Assessor. The 2-day class will conclude with the exam on the 3rd day. You will learn:
