   Dr. Jason Smith
Dr. Jason Smith is assistant professor of forest pathology in the School of Forest Resources and Conservation at the University of Florida. Jason conducts research and extension programs on diseases of trees and forest health. His research includes disease diagnosis, biology/epidemiology and developing disease-resistant trees.  Before coming to Florida in 2006, Jason was a postdoctoral research associate in the Department of Plant Pathology at the University of Minnesota.

    Dr. Les Werner
A native of Wisconsin, Dr. Les Werner teaches Soils and Forestry at the University of Wisconsin at Stevens Point. Les obtained his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from UW - Stevens Point and his Ph.D from UW - Madison in 2008.  His research examines soil microbiology and how it is influenced by both natural and human induced changes in landscape environments.  Les has received numerous accommodations for his teaching and research while at UWSP from both students and the green industries.  Les’ goal is to make the soil live for all of his students regardless of age, so that they can manage their environments using what nature intended.
