Soil is the life-blood of plants. In this session Dr. Donavan will discuss how to assess and manage Florida urban soils.

OUR EXPERTS

DR. BILL DONOVAN
Dr. Bill Donovan is an Adjunct Instructor of Environmental Horticultural at Palm Beach State College where he teaches on soils and fertilizers providing a study of soil characteristics, classifications, testing, and plant nutrition as well as management of soils and amendments for specific horticultural purposes by understanding soil reaction and types and uses of fertilizers. 

DR. STEPHANIE PARKER
Dr. Stephanie Parker is a Florida native with 28 years in the green industry, starting with owning a landscaping company in 1990.  She earned a B.S. in microbiology in 1999 and a Doctorate of Plant Medicine in 2004 from University of Florida.  She is also an ISA Certified Arborist with TRAQ credential. She started a consulting firm, PHC Professionals, Inc. in 2010 to offer plant health consultation including diagnosis of tree, turf and shrub disorders, offering prescriptive and custom agronomic programs, and training to multiple sectors in the green industry.  She has been with Mainscape, Inc for the past 3 1/2 years in the role of Regional  Director of Agronomy.  Her passion is helping those who manage turf, ornamentals and trees understand how to perform comprehensive evaluation of plant problems and devise sustainable solutions. 

TIMOTHEE SALLIN
Timothee Sallin is President of Cherrylake in Groveland, FL. Timothee is responsible for guiding the implementation of strategy and providing executive leadership to the company operations. He is passionate about connecting with leaders in the landscape, construction, design and planning industries in order to build beautiful, functional and sustainable landscapes.

BILL SCHALL
Bill is the Commercial Horticulture Extension Agent IV for the University of Florida/Palm Beach County Extension in West Palm Beach Florida.  He has a B.S. Degree in Ornamental Horticulture and M.S. Degree in Plant Protection, and has served as a Commercial Horticulture Extension Agent since 1987 in both Broward and Palm Beach Counties.  His responsibilities include administering educational programs and providing diagnostic advising for Palm Beach County’s nursery, landscape, arborist and pest management firms.  Bill has received numerous awards for his work including the Florida Association of County Agricultural Agents Distinguished Service Award, and is a three-time recipient of the Golden Palm Award, which was presented by the Palm Beach County Administrator for Bill’s exemplary programmatic efforts in horticulture and pest management.
