Pruning Trees: A Systems Approach (AKA Tree  Preservation Strategies) (indoor)
Dr. Ed Gilman, University of Florida, Professor Emeritus
Dr. Gilman will show you how to develop an easy-to-use system of pruning trees of any age that is simple to teach to customers and staff. The strategies are similar whether it’s a tree with a one inch trunk diameter or a four foot diameter. Experienced arborists, landscapers, and beginners alike will come away with a fresh, new perspective on pruning trees for longevity! You will know that there is more to mature tree care than thinning!

12:00-1:00 Lunch (provided)

1:00-2:00
Pruning Strategies (outdoor)
Dr. Ed Gilman, University of Florida, Professor Emeritus
Some of the techniques described in the morning session will be demonstrated in the field. Focus will be on strategies designed to preserve trees rather than remove them. Hardhats and eye protection will be required to stand close to the work site.

2:00-3:30

Mark Moeske, Allmark Tree & Crane Service
You’ve been given a work order to remove a tree using a crane. Building on the indoor sessions, Mark will demonstrate from start to finish the steps to ensure a safe, productive crane day. A hard hat and eye protection will be required to stand close to the demonstration site.
