Goals for the conference: To increase the attendee's awareness of new trends in rehabilitation and healthcare and to support the continued growth of rehabilitation nursing and individual nurses. Following the conference, the nurse/case manager will be able to:

1.  Discuss challenges in communication in hospitalized individuals who are non-vocal.

2.  Describe the use of augmentative and alternative communication applications/devices in hospitalized patients.

3.  Principle 1: Board-Certified Case Managers (CCMs) will place the public interest above their own at all times. Objective: Examine the role of ethics in medical applications/device research and development.

4.  Explain the clinical presentation of delirium.

5.  Identify the causes of delirium.

6.  Provide appropriate nursing interventions for person in a state of delirium.

7. Principle 2: Board-Certified Case Managers (CCMs) will respect the rights and inherent dignity of all of their clients. Objective: Identify practices or strategies that you may employ to improve partnerships with individuals and their families/caregivers.

8,  Explain the clinical presentation of delirium.

9.  Identify the causes of delirium.

10. Provide appropriate nursing interventions for person in a state of delirium.

11. Principle 2: Board-Certified Case Managers (CCMs) will respect the rights and inherent dignity of all of their clients. Objective: Identify practices or strategies that you may employ to improve partnerships with individuals and their families/caregivers.

12. Discuss SNF’s Minimum Data Set (MDS); Patient Driven Payment Model (PDPM) and Case Mix Groups (CMG).

13. Describe the role of the Rehab Nurse in ensuring quality care based upon “Evidence Best Practice.

14. Articulate the importance of Rehab Nursing in all practice settings including Long Term Care / Swing Bed Programs.

15. Principle 4: Board-Certified Case Managers (CCMs) will act with integrity and fidelity with clients and others. Objective: Articulate the importance of Rehab Nursing in all practice settings and the importance of maintaining an ethical code of conduct.

16. Identify the required quality Data measures that are influenced by Rehab nursing.

17. Discuss the application of evidenced based nursing interventions to influence patient outcomes.

18. Discuss the QPP measures and the required documentation to support reimbursement.

19. Principle 4: Board-Certified Case Managers (CCMs) will act with integrity and fidelity with clients and others. Objective: Discuss how to maintain ethical standards of practice while documentation is tied to reimbursement.

20. Identify the most important finding of each of the 2 studies presented.

21. State one way this research translates to practice.

22. Have an awareness of the grant process and publication.

23. Principle 3: Board-Certified Case Managers (CCMs) will always maintain objectivity in their relationship with clients. Objective: Identify his or her own role in research, to briefly include research ethics for case managers and role of the Institutional Review Board.

24. Explore the benefits and uses for medical marijuana in the healthcare setting.

25. Identify the different medical conditions that cannabinoids may provide an effective treatment option.

26. Principle 7: Board-Certified Case Managers (CCMs) will obey all laws and regulations. Objective: Discuss the ethical considerations surrounding the use and prescription of medical marijuana. 

27. Develop resources for your rehab patient to ensure effective care and optimum management.
