Suds for Sanctuary - Redux

Please join us on July 7th to see how you have changed the lives of vulnerable children in Uganda. We’ve witnessed the transformation made possible when children are able to attend school – especially girls and children with disabilities – and have access to clean water. We’ll tell stories and show you how you have helped us build the first inclusive school in the Teso region, supported a health clinic to Oukut village and drilled wells that serve tens of thousands of people. These projects increase independence, improve health, decrease disability rates, and reduces gender-based violence. 100% of your contributions go directly to these projects which is unique to VCAYA in the non-profit world and we’re excited to share how you have made a difference!

A big challenge in Uganda is the education of girls. Agnes’ mother died in childbirth while delivering her seventh child. As the only remaining female, the responsibility of caring for the family (gathering water, cooking meals, washing clothes, etc.) would fall on her shoulders.

Someone stepped forward to pay for Agnes’ school tuition, uniforms, and essential items which is dramatically changing her life. She now lives at school and is able to focus on her education and safe from sexual assault at home.

We would also like to introduce you to Melvin, a 12-year old boy living outside of Soroti. His tuition has been sponsored for several years and has made it possible for him to attend school. As a result, he has become proficient on a computer using adaptive equipment that allows him to learn effectively. This is important because his mother, Grace, is also blind. Melvin is developing independent work skills that are essential to his survival and future success.

The purpose the evening is to thank you for your support and to share some upcoming projects that we will be taking on this July.

If you are unable to attend, be sure to visit the VCAYA website: vcaya.org to see our progress and to follow our July trip where we will be hosting a Maternal Health Conference, improving the Oukut Clinic with solar panels and refridgeration for medicines, installing improved sanitation at the SMILE inclusive school and finishing another classroom.

We will also be conducting several eye glass distributions so please bring any old prescription glasses and readers and sunglasses to the event.

We will provide beer, wine, soft drinks, water and light snacks. Parking is available.
