SPD Honor Guard

Mourning Badge and Pins

The mourning band on the police badge is the traditional way for a law enforcement officer to publicly mourn the death of a fellow officer.  It is very symbolic and is worn with great respect.

As a fundraiser for the Seattle Police Honor Guard, the Seattle Police Foundation is offering Mourning Badges for purchase for sworn personnel. Sworn personnel are authorized to wear these special badges following a line of duty death and during National Police Week.  Your serial number will be engraved on the badge.
.
Lapel pins are also available for both sworn and civilian personnel.  These badges and lapel pins are a very respectful and dignified way to pay respect to officers who are killed in the line of duty.
.
Please note the following items:
  • Lieutenants and above may choose to order a gold badge.
  • Due to the policy requiring mourning badges to display your serial number, badges with the title displayed are no longer available.
  • The complimentary badge offer from last summer was one-time only program and is no longer available.
  • Lapel pins will not display your serial number
THE LAST DAY TO ORDER IS MARCH 5th  -  ITEMS WILL BE DELIVERED IN LATE APRIL / EARLY MAY

Badge donations are $85 each

Lapel Pin donations are $15 each

Net proceeds from this fundraiser will go to support the Seattle Police Department's Honor Guard.  The funds raised will assist the Honor Guard with uniform and equipment maintenance and travel expenses.

SPD's Honor Guard was formed in 1932 and is one of the Nation's oldest active Honor Guard Units. Members have provided military style honors at funerals and memorial services for fallen officers.  The Honor Guard posts Colors at Department-sponsored events and represents the Department at yearly police memorial services at the state capitol, our nation's capitol, and services for Peace Officers killed in the line-of-duty throughout the nation.
