Groundhog's Day 2022

Join us on Saturday, February 5th at 7:30am for our annual Groundhog's Day Fundraiser!

Join us on the morning of February 5th as Woody, Michigan's OFFICIAL groundhog, makes her 24th annual prediction LIVE at Howell Nature Center! Will we have six more weeks of winter, or an early spring? Join us to find out!

Get ready to learn all about groundhogs from our knowledgable wildlife staff. This event is FREE and for all ages.

Don't forget to sign up for our groundhog's day COSTUME CONTEST! Come dressed to impress as winter, spring, a groundhog, or anything you see fit! The winner will receive a $50 gift certificate to the Howell Nature Center. The new deadline to sign up is 5pm on Thursday, February 3rd.

While Woody's habitat meets her health and welfare needs, we believe that Michigan's Official groundhog deserves a home fit for a celebrity! If you agree, please consider making a donation toward her exhibit renovations.

GROUNDHOG'S DAY SNACK CONTEST 

We invite families to make their very best Groundhog's Day themed snacks! Whether sweet or savory, the only criteria is that it screams "Groundhog's Day" when you look at it.

Submit a picture of your creation to our Community Engagement and Volunteer Coordinator, Clarice Farina, at claricef@howellnaturecenter.org by 11:59pm on Sunday, January 30th to be entered for a chance to win a $50 gift certificate to the Howell Nature Center!

The winner will be announced on Groundhog's Day on social media and at the event. Good luck!
