Biography
Ambassador Matkovic was born in Northern Serbia. He graduated from the University of Belgrade's Law Faculty with a major in International Relations and entered the Foreign Service in 1981. Ambassador Matkovic has served as Deputy Chief of Mission at the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia in Budapest, Hungary; First Counselor at the Embassy of Serbia in Washington, D.C.; and Chief of Protocol and Director of the Department for North and South America at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Serbia. His most recent position, prior to assuming duties as Ambassador to the United States, was Foreign Policy Advisor to the current Prime Minister of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic.
