The MENding Monologues! 
 

The MENding Monologues is an inspiration 90-minute show inspired by Eve Ensler's The Vagina Monologues.  Created by Derek Dujardin, The MENding Monologues explores gender violence issues from a male perspective and empowers men and women to become advocates for global change. Using true, first-person monologues and hard-hitting slam poetry, the MENding Monologues advocates for tangible change here and now!   Q & A following the performance and dessert reception.

Growing up in Cincinnati, the songstress moved to Los Angeles after studying music at Indiana University. She found work quickly with acting roles on TV shows "Mad About You" and "Gilmore Girls" as well as several national commercials.

Ed Mabrey is an accomplished poet, writer, life coach, motivational speaker, and actor driven by an incredible passion for creating experiences with every performance. His performances are often noted for their unique blend of passion, grace, and fire. Ed Mabrey is the founder of Black Pearl Productions LLC, which owns Black Pearl Poetry, one of the most successful poetry shows in the nation, and has hosted and produced over 1,000 poetry events and concerts, including shows featuring The Roots, Umar Bin Hasan, The Last Poets, Gil Scott-Heron, Ursula Rucker, and Saul Williams, to name a few. Ed has curated for the Martin Luther King Jr. Performing Arts Center and has been featured in the Whitney Museum.

Free writing workshop the next day for those interested in exploring and writing their own stories.
 
 
Workshop:  Sunday, February 17, 2013  12:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.
West Hollywood Park Auditorium

This healing, one or two-day workshop is designed for both men and women. Through story circles and writing exercises, participants look into their personal history to “find the gift next to the wound.” Led by Derek Dujardin and veteran MENding performers, the process and facilitation is flexible to accommodate different groups, issues and training objectives.
