QCSEF Zombie Run

Saturday, October 26, 2013

In Coordination with Town of Queen Creek’s Trunk or Treat

At Desert Mountain Park (SE corner of Hawes Rd and Ocotillo Rd)

3:30 PM  Check In   -   Race begins at 4:00 PM  (First set of runners)

Cost: $25 per person (early); includes zombie t-shirt.

Distance: 5 K   (approx. 3 miles)

Challenge:  Off road through Desert Mountain Park and in the Sonoqui Wash.  Although this is a kid friendly course, it is not wheel chair or stroller accessible.  Race will launch in waves, if necessary.

Awards:   All participants get a free Zombie T-shirt with customized zombie designation.

Parking:  Early bird parking is available on-site, but is limited.  A free shuttle service will be provided from Queen Creek Library for those who come later (see maps).

Rules:   Please follow course outline and have fun!

 

 

What to bring on Race Day

 

Race Day: On the big day, make sure you bring the following:

1.  Identification

2.  Signed Liability Waiver.  Participants under 18 years of age need it signed by their legal guardian.

3.  Yourself dressed as a Zombie! An Improv group may be available to do face painting; if they are, please bring a small amount of cash and come early.

4.  Cash for food and beverages, if desired.

5.  You might want to bring some additional water and/or sunscreen for yourself, just in case.

 

You will need to enter from the south entrance of the Desert Mountain Elementary School Parking lot.

 


2013 Zombie Run FAQ’S

  • What is the Zombie Run?

                  A 5 K (kilometer) mile fun race where people can dress up like a Zombie!   

 

  • What is the Zombie Task Force?

                  The Zombie Task Force is the race Volunteers that will help us PLAN, DESIGN, ADVERTISE, ORGANIZE, SET-UP, RUN THE EVENT, AND TAKE IT DOWN. There are many, many positions available.  Get in early to have the most impact!

 

  • When is the event?

                  The Zombie Run is scheduled to start mid-afternoon and end right before Trunk or Treat starts on Saturday, October 26th at Desert Mountain Park. The course runs around the school, across and through the wash, under the bridges, down the path, and loops back around to finish in the fields at Desert Mountain Park. Check in at 3:30 pm.  Race begins at 4 pm.   Trunk or Treat starts at 5 pm.

 

  • Who is sponsoring the event?

                  This event is coordinated by The Queen Creek Schools Education Foundation (QCSEF) and co-sponsored by the Town of Queen Creek.  QCSEF’s mission is to fundraise and then give College Scholarships and Teacher Grants for students and teachers in Queen Creek Schools.   • Anyone else benefit from the event?

                  We hope so!  We would like to get school and local clubs involved in their own fundraising during the event – like face-painting to help the runners look more Zombie-like.
