While most visitors purchase their Season Passes online, but they are available at the gate. You can also pay admission to the grounds before each concert. If you do use our online system you are protected by paypal.
Although the West Lawn at the Hegeler Carus Mansion is fabulous, it is still subject to the burdens of everyday life including inclement weather, artist and program changes, sold-out performances. No refunds will be given unless a performance is cancelled in its entirety, with no replacement performance scheduled.
Summer Sunset Concert Weather Policy
Lawn Admission: All attendees are subject to a $5 lawn fee per guest.
Are you a music lover? Save BIG by purchasing a season lawn pass! Season pass holders receive admission to all summer outdoor public events including Summer Sunset Concerts and Pop Up Concerts.
Designated accessible parking for vehicles bearing valid Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) disability parking placards or license plates is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Accessible parking is located at the South West corner of the venue at Seventh and Sterling Streets.Parking is limited, so please plan to arrive early on sold-out nights.
The lawn has wheelchair and scooter accessible locations at the entrance on Sterling and 7th Streets where patrons can remain in their wheelchairs or transfer to chairs that they bring with them.
The park has gravel accessible paths throughout. Please see any volunteer for assistance.
Restrooms and handwashing stations are located near the north (back) entrance of the Mansion.

The gardens open for picnics at 5:30 pm and music starts at 7 pm. Admission to the gardens is just $5.

Picnic on the Lawn
The west lawn of the Hegeler Carus Mansion is the Starved Rock region’s only music venue that is not operated by a bar or restaurant. Many of our guests have remarked on the uniqueness of this outdoor venue with its gorgeous sprawling lawn.
We encourage our guests to bring chairs, tables, blankets, lots of friends and as much food and beverages as you need. The west lawn opens for Picnics at 5:30 pm on concert days. There is a $5 lawn admission fee per guest.
The Hegeler Carus Mansion has a fantastic gift shop! Visit our walk-in gift shop at the North (ground floor) entrance of the Mansion. There you will find an extensive array of clothing, souvenirs, books, accessories, and gift items to enhance your concert experience. The shop will be open at 5:30 and will close 15 minutes before each performance.
“The Little Shop in the Big House” is managed by the Hegeler Carus Foundation and is staffed by volunteers. All proceeds directly benefit the preservation of the Hegeler Carus Mansion and the Julius W. Hegeler I Home.
The Hegeler Carus Foundation strictly adheres to all local and state laws regarding alcohol consumption. Guests 21 and older may bring alcoholic beverages for adult consumption; you heard that right, BYOB! The Foundation reserves the right to refuse service or admission to anyone. Please behave responsibly. Our lawn is family friendly.
Please Do Not Bring:
It’s important that you feel at home at The west lawn of the Hegeler Carus Mansion, but this is not your backyard. Therefore do not bring: grills, beer kegs, athletic equipment (ex. footballs, Frisbees, etc.), rollerblades, pets (we know they love music too), tents, anything that needs to be staked into the ground.
Fire and Smoking Ordinance
The Hegeler Carus Mansion is a National Historic Landmark. Open flames are strictly prohibited on our museum campus. This includes: Cigarettes, pipes, lighters, matches, tiki torches, fireworks, sterno, Candles (visit our gift shop for battery operated candles.)
ARRIVE EARLY! The grounds open for picnics at 5:30 pm. We recommend arriving as early as possible to secure your desired spot on the lawn.
Be considerate! As our concert popularity grows, the lawn can become crowded. Please do not reserve more space than you actually need on the lawn, allowing room for your fellow concertgoers to enjoy the evening. Staff reserve the right to condense parties and reseat patrons. If you have trouble finding a spot, please find a volunteer at the gate for assistance.
