Amy Moritz is a veteran sports reporter who has written about everything from high school girls basketball to the National Hockey League while winning national acclaim for her reporting and writing on college hockey for The Buffalo News. A native of Lockport, she graduated from St. Bonaventure with a degree in journalism and received her master’s in humanities from the University at Buffalo. A triathlete and distance runner, with an Ironman and five marathons to her credit, Amy is the author of the book, “I Thought You’d Be Faster: The Quest To Become An Athlete.”

The Accidental Athlete: The Messy Art of Pursuing your Passion

Amy Moritz has spent her life working as a sports reporter, telling the tales of athletes of all kinds. But it wasn’t until she hit her 30s that she finally answered the call to be an athlete herself. In this presentation, Amy discusses her journey of defining and pursuing her own athletic identity while discussing how to listen to what’s truly calling you and find the courage to live your passion in all its messy, beautiful reality.
