Foster Care & Adoption Information Session for LGBTQ People

Of the 19,302 children in New York State foster care, 5,376 have a goal of adoption, and approximately 1,000 are legally freed and waiting for an adoptive family. More than ever, members of the LGBTQ* communities are needed as temporary or permanent parents to these children and youth.  This event is presented by the Central New York LGBTQ Child Welfare Coalition.

  • Come learn more about the foster care and adoption process in an LGBTQ-affirming setting.
  • Network with other LGBT parents and prospective parents.
  • Several local agencies will be represented and you will hear from parents who have gone through the process.
  • You will be encouraged to pick up free information, ask questions, and enjoy complimentary refreshments.
  • Training hours available for any foster-adoptive parent
