How to REALLY Get the Most Out of the MRAC Arts and Culture Database

Access Philanthrophy has created a dynamic and robust Arts and Culture Funding Database specifically for MRAC constituents! Come and hear from the Access Philanthropy experts on how to use this great resource for success for your arts organization.

MRAC sponsors the free online Metro Area Arts, Culture, and History Funder Database and the Quarterly Metro Area Arts Funder Deadline Calendar (check out the links): Both the database and the calendar are managed by Access Philanthropy, a local fundraising research and consulting firm.

Each year, MRAC sponsors a workshop for constituents who want to make the best use of the database and the deadline calendar. In this workshop, Access Philanthropy staff will help you determine:

  • How to best use the database and the deadline calendar – search engines, key data points, timelines, connecting with funders
  • How to go “deeper” in your research – IRS forms, other funder databases, the funder’s website language, sample grants, biographies
  • How to present your best case to different types of funders – corporations, small family foundations, usual suspects, national specialty funders and nooks/crannies funders

This two-hour workshop will have plenty of time for questions and discussion on special fundraising issues of smaller arts, history and culture organizations.

The workshop is free to attend. There are no refreshments offered, but there is a Dunn Brothers in the library where you can pick up a cup of coffee and a snack and bring it into the auditorium. Come a few minutes early if you plan on this option.
