Truth and Fiction about the Perfect Board 

Join us for our Building Foundations track training on building an effective board for your small arts nonprofit presented by consultant Rebecca Baumann.

This workshop will examine state statute requirements along with ideas that work and folklore that doesn’t resulting in the right formula for your nonprofit board.  We will compare the differences in board composition and board responsibilities as your organizations is first formed and as it matures and re-creates itself.  There will be time for questions and discussion.

Rebecca Baumann has been President of Consulting for Nonprofits for five years providing board training and helping with board recruitment and expansion for numerous clients.  She also has 16 years of experience serving as executive director in Wisconsin and Minnesota and has personally served on various nonprofit boards.

Her undergraduate degree is from Miami University Ohio in English Education, and she has a law degree from Loyola University Chicago School of Law.  She enjoys writing, talking about nonprofits, and consulting many different types of organizations.

Rebecca is excited to share her experiences with workshop participants and is eager hear new stories of success, frustration, and breakthroughs.

The Building Foundations track trainings are targeted to small arts organizations who may not have as much experience or as many resources as some more established organizations. Terms and concepts may be explained to assure everyone is learning from the workshop. Anyone at any level is welcome to register, but those with more knowledge on the topic may not find this as relevant to their work.
